Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Performance Framework Report: 2006, 2008 and 2010 Reports

Health Policy Analysis was engaged by the Office of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH) to prepare the first report against the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Performance Framework.  Health Policy Analysis drafted the report, and performed the role of editor-in-chief, using data analysis undertaken by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.  An important aspect of the drafting of the report was to interpret the key statistics and draw out the policy implications.  For the first report, a round of consultations was undertaken with key stakeholders from across Australia.  This work was undertaken within a tight timeframe with extensive consultation.  The final report was considered by the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council (AHMAC) and approved by Health Ministers.  In 2008 and 2010, Health Policy Analysis was re-engaged to draft the second and third reports. These reports have been widely used by government and non-government sectors and have helped inform indicators agreed by the Council of Australian Government related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.
